Maths is everywhere!!


For the activity each class was divided into groups of 5 and each group was given different tasks to be completed in a given time.
The tasks included measuring the dimensions of various day to day objects, observing tiles and their patterns, observing the symmetry around us, application of numbers and number system and many more.
The Head Mistress Ma’am Anjali Massey appreciated the zeal and enthusiasm of the children and teachersthat made the event a grand success.

    Word Power:Enriching Vocabulary

    Class –IV

    J.K. Rowling's character Dumbledore in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows said, 'Words are, in my not-so-humble opinion, our most inexhaustible source of magic. '

    This was a fantastic and fun filled activity that enhanced the vocabulary of the students.  They enjoyed playing ‘Hangman’, which was an interactive word game, in which they had to guess the word in 10 chances. They also exhibited their enhanced vocabulary in the form of dictionaries. Children blended their creativity with their word power and made amazing dictionaries.  They learned many news words in a play way method. The activity resulted in richer vocabulary of the students.

      Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out.

      The motive for this activity was Learning Math with fun and pleasure. It was a mass participation activity. There were interesting and innovative questions which tested the mental and hands on ability of the students. Each student got an opportunity to solve the given worksheet and measured the height and weight of their partner. All the students were very enthusiastic about the activity as it appeared like a game to them. Marks were allotted on the basis of questions attempted correctly. The student who completed the maximum number of questions correctly, was announced as the winner.

       The activity was witnessed by Headmistress Ma’am Anjali Massey who encouraged the students and appreciated their effort.

        The students of classes 3-5 of Delhi Public School Jaipur enthusiastically participated in a session on ‘Yoga and Meditation’ which was organized on Thursday, 12 April 2018 in the school. The aim of the activity was to introduce yoga and meditation to the students as a way of life and share the benefits of yoga with the students and the positive vibes it has on the mind and the body.

        The Yoga instructor taught the students a series of simple, yet effective yoga postures, breathing exercises and meditation techniques that are beneficial for the well-being of the body, mind and soul. All the exercises were age appropriate and the students thoroughly enjoyed the exercises which were backed by stimulating music and visuals.

        Headmistress Ms Anjali Massey appreciated the active participation of students and motivated them to practice yoga and meditation on a regular basis and benefit from this healthier way of life. 

          Mr. Shane Bauman Professor of Mathematics at University of Waterloo visited Dps Jaipur on April 11, 2018 and interacted with the students. The session was very informative and helped students to understand the concepts of Mathematics in a very easy going way.

            On the occasion of Kids Yoga Day, students of classes Nursery – II were made aware of the importance of yoga, meditation and self-discipline through a Yoga and Meditation session at DPS Jaipur on Friday 6 April 2018. 
            They learnt few other yoga poses also such as tree, mountain etc.
            After the yoga session they also had a meditation session to learn how to concentrate, focus and have a healthy mind. The meditation session was followed by a skit presented by the teachers of preprimary to reinforce the concept of self-discipline in the students.

              A session on Good Touch and Bad Touch was organized for the students of grade III to V at Delhi Public School, Jaipur. It was held to create awareness in children about child safety. The school counselor, Ms. Vidhita Ranawat conducted the session through the medium of PPT, videos and later worksheets were given to check the learning of students on this topic. Children were taught about ‘safe zone & unsafe/danger zone’ on their bodies, how to identify between good touch and bad touch, what feelings children deal with if they face bad touch or abuse, how it is not their fault if it happened to them and how to stop it and protect themselves by being abused. The protect yourself rules were explained.
